Cosmelan combines various active ingredients to effectively target and significantly reduce the appearance of facial pigmentation such as melasma, freckles, sun damage and hyperpigmentation from acne. Whether pigmentation is due to sun exposure or an imbalance in hormones, this multi-stage treatment works to reduce pigmentation.

Cosmelan is suitable for individuals of all skin colours who are seeking to address facial pigmentation concerns such as melasma, freckles, sun damage and hyperpigmentation from acne.

Cosmelan may not be suitable for individuals with certain skin conditions or sensitivities. Contraindications include active herpes simplex, rosacea, dermatitis, open wounds, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Cosmelan works through a multi-step process to target and reduce facial pigmentation. The treatment involves a month of preparation including a home care product and an in-clinic preparation peel. On the day of your full Cosmelan peel, a professional-grade depigmentation mask containing a blend of active ingredients, including skin-lightening and exfoliating agents, is applied to the skin and remains on the skin for 8 to 12 hours. After the initial application, you will follow a prescribed at-home skincare regimen to support the depigmentation process. Over the following weeks, you will notice a gradual improvement in the appearance of pigmentation as the skin undergoes a process of renewal and regeneration. The final result is a more even complexion with reduced pigmentation and a brighter, rejuvenated appearance.

During the Cosmelan treatment, you may experience a tingling or warming sensation as the mask is applied to the skin. Some individuals may also feel mild discomfort or tightness as the mask begins to dry. However, any discomfort is usually temporary and well-tolerated by most individuals. After the treatment, you may notice some redness or sensitivity to the treated area, similar to a mild sunburn, and swelling of the face can also occur. This typically resolves within a few days as the skin begins to heal and regenerate. An over-the-counter antihistamine may be used only at nighttime to reduce the potential of post-treatment swelling.

Preparation for Cosmelan treatment involves adhering to a prescribed skincare regimen from your HUB therapist using approved products prior to starting the procedure. This may include avoiding certain skincare products and treatments to ensure the skin is in optimal condition. Post-care involves using only approved products as recommended by your HUB therapist to support the healing process and maximise results. This includes gentle cleansers, hydratonic mist, moisturisers, hydravital mask and sunscreen to protect the skin and maintain the effectiveness of the Cosmelan treatment. Additionally, avoiding sun exposure and adhering to specific post-care instructions are essential to promote optimal healing and long-term skin health.

Cosmelan treatment typically involves some downtime, which can vary depending on individual skin sensitivity and the intensity of the procedure. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, and mild discomfort, similar to sunburn for 3 to 7 days. This initial reaction usually subsides within a few days, although some individuals may experience peeling or flaking of the skin as it begins to regenerate. In most cases, any visible signs of treatment diminish within 1 to 2 weeks, leaving the skin looking rejuvenated and refreshed.

HUB Skin Wellness Pilates requires a minimum of 48 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. All appointments require a card to be held on file, and for treatments valued $100 and over, we require a $50 non-refundable deposit.

If you reschedule or cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice, and your treatment is valued $100 and over, your $50 non-refundable deposit can be applied when securing your next appointment or used as a credit to purchase product from HUB Skin.
If you reschedule or cancel your appointment within the 48-hour window, or fail to attend your appointment, your card on file will be charged 50% of your total treatment fee. This is applicable to all appointments, regardless of the treatment value.

Please note if you fail to attend an appointment on two or more occasions without notice, we will require the full treatment amount to be paid at the time of booking for any future appointments.

HUB Skin Wellness Pilates Cancellation Policy is in place to ensure the sustainability of our small business. Appointments require a commitment of resources which cost the business in the event of cancellation, therefore the Cancellation Policy is in place not to ‘punish’ clients but to protect the viability of our business.
